Lighting System for Hatian Homes
I sensed deep within my spirit that I was to use my electrical engineering training
and experience to bring light to this dark country. I was not to do it for profit,
but rather as an offering to God.
Life was busy and so I kept the solar lighting project on a back burner, never actually
designing the systems. I was doing electrical engineering for a company that designed
and manufactured electronic equipment for commercial aircraft. It was great work and
I loved it but I was always too involved to do the solar lighting design. Besides,
I had until March 2002 to get it done. Then Setpember 11 came and the orders for
aircraft equipment dried up. I was laid off at the end of October.
It was in November 2001 that I did the design of the first NHM lighting system for a
Hatian home. The system was assembled and tested and then packed into a suitcase
for the trip to Caesse in March 2002.
